MIT’s TechTV…the new youtube

Even though it’s still in Beta and has a few bugs to work out, MIT’s TechTV is a great place to store your videos content online.
Anyone with an MIT email account can sign up and post their own videos there for free. You can create your own playlists, create “collections” of your videos, and generate RSS feeds. And guess what, you can IM with other techtv-ers for help if you have questions. The content is moderated by MIT, so its safe for your kids to surf. You don’t have to worry about having any lewd or inappropriate videos popping up like there are on other video sites.
Check out what MITer’s have already uploaded, there’s everything from serious, scientific research to the fun and witty videos submitted by students. Here are some of my favs:
- Doctor Doctor: a piece created by 2 SoE students demonstrating the power of steam
- Doc Edgerton’s stroboscopic photography (slow motion) films (he did the film of the bullet going through an apple in super-slow-mo)
Also, I have an inside scoop that MIT TechTV will probably be doing a fairly big upgrade most likely in January (updated player and more). Details to follow…
