Navigate by Touch
Have you heard about “Perceptive Pixel?” It is a company started by Jeff Han, a reasearch scientist at NYU’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Perceptive Pixel builds interfaces that you navigate by touch. I can’t wait to navigate the web like this! Web Analytics
This month’s meeting focused on web analytics – how people track visitors to their websites. We reviewed MIT’s Hit Counter and three commercial products (CrazyEgg.com and WebSideStory.com’s Hitbox Professional, and Google Analytics). Cecilia presented on how to use the MIT Counter Code to pull traffic data from the Data Warehouse (download her ppt slides). Position is everything
I just learned about a site called Position Is Everything that is a really great resource for learning how to fix common CSS bugs in most commonly used browsers. Stencils for Omnigraffle and Visio
As a mac addict, I use Omnigraffle for building Information Architecture maps for my clients. use OmniGraffle Pro to develop site maps. Its a mac only product, but if you download the Pro version, you can save files as visio files for your pc users. You can download the trial version, and whenever you need to use it go back to their site to get a 24hr free license. Closed Captioning for Flash
While Flash is..well, Flashy…it does pose a number of accessibiliy problems for us web publishers. If a user can’t use your Flash site’s interface because of some disability, then they aren’t going to be able to use your site. However our friends across the river are working on ways to make Flash a little better for the world… WGBH has created “CC for Flash” to simplify captioning for Adobe Flash technology.
