Yahoo! Pipes….

Yahoo! Pipes is a service that lets you combine different web feeds to create your own personal aggregate. You pipe data in, then mash it up…the result is a single rss feed that you created with a few clicks – no programming knowledge required. New Web Developer Toolbar

Many of you know and love the web development toolbar, a handy tool for web producers to make sure their code is up to par with MIT’s Web Publishing Guidelines. There is a new release available (v1.1.3) on the chrispederik.com website (http://chrispederick.com/work/webdeveloper/.) The Web Developer extension adds a menu and a toolbar to the browser with various web developer tools. It is designed for Firefox, Flock, Mozilla and Seamonkey, and will run on any platform that these browsers support including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Check out this cool video explaining Web 2.0 created by Michael Wesch, assistant Cultural Anthropology Professor at Kansas State Usability. Email Marketing

The January 2007 WebPub meeting focused on email marketing. Some basic tips from the group included the following: Be wary of vendors who want control over your email address database. You should be the ones to send out the email, not them; Try using mailman as an option for sending out email newsletters. The configuration can be tricky, so work with the IS&T Accounts team to set it up (web.mit.edu/ist/accounts); Put your policy statement and physical address at the bottom of your email; Make sure you give the receiver the option to unsubscribe from your email list; include your style... [read more]
